Just a short walk away is kennack sands, which has the blue flag award for cleanliness. It is made up of two coves with the far one allowing dogs all year. The beach is a safe and at low tide, there’s a good beach café here, serving hearty breakfasts and snacks all day, try some of the coffees they’re delicious.
Poltesco is also nearby and well worth a look at, reached via the beautiful Poltesco valley with its old mill. It’s a pebble beach, with the remains of a serpentine works on it. Just one and a half miles away lies the picture postcard fishing village of Cadgwith, which has a wonderful traditional Cornish pub, complete with Friday night singing – a must for any visitor. Cadgwith itself is a host to numerous fishing competitions and fish barbeques throughout the summer.
No visitor to the peninsula should leave before seeing Lizard Point, the most southerly point in Britain.
